Billy Siegenfeld and Jeannie Hill are two of my favorite dancers in the world.
They have inspired me for 17 years, and I am honored to know them as teachers, mentors, friends and co-conspirators in rhythm making/breaking.
These photos were taken during Jump Rhythm Jazz Project’s 20th Anniversary performances at Dance Center Columbia College.
The video below offers a glimpse at JRJP’s origins and early footage of Billy and Jeannie.

Friday, February 19th, 2010I left Chicago nine years ago. I’ve visited every year but one since then, always and only in the summertime. When I found out my old dance company JRJP was having it’s 20th anniversary in February, I didn’t hesitate to break that rule and fly out in the dead of winter. Much to my surprise the weather’s been quite lovely for my trip. Note: This photo was taken at Northwestern University at the same spot where my first black and white film darkroom print was shot in 1993.
